Franklin D. Roosevelt 32nd President 1933-1945
Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882 in Hyde Park New York. In 1933, the Emergency Bank Act closed banks; Roosevelt also makes his first "fireside chat" on the radio. Also in 1933, the banks reopen and the New Deal legislation provides new federal relief programs. In 1939, World War 2 erupts in Europe, again the United States tries to sit it out. In 1940, Roosevelt announce a Lend Lease program which would supply Great Britain with vitally needed war supplies. In 1941, Roosevelt sign the Atlantic charter with Great Britain, and Japan attacks Pearl Harbor which pulls the United States into war. In 1944, D-day the invasion of north France begins and proves itself successful to the Allied forces. In 1945, Germany and Japan surrender and World War 2 is officially over. Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945 in Warm Spring, Georgia shortly after he was inaugurated for a 4th term.
