William H. Taft 27th President
William H. Taft was born on September 5, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Taft loved to play baseball, he was a good hitter but extremely slow in running bases. When Taft became an adult he weighed over 300 pounds. When he was elected president not only was their a larger bath tub installed, but he started a tradition of the president throwing the first ball of the season. During his administration the federal postal-savings system was established, also the sixteenth amendment was passed allowing collection of personal income taxes. He died on March 8, 1930 in Washington D.C..
